Is Logo Matting Worth It?

Logo matting becomes dirty and soil distracts from your visual branding. Many businesses consider extending the marketing of their logo onto the floor with customized logo matting. After all, you can capture a lot of first and last impressions while the matting does “double-duty” to keep dirt and debris from entering your facility.

However, we counsel our customers to carefully weigh the alternatives before diving into custom matting territory.

First of all, for the same cost of a single customized mat, you can purchase two to three “off the rack” mats.

Consider the fact that during winter months, mats may need to be changed out and cleaned more frequently. For facilities looking to stretch their maintenance dollar, getting three mats for the price of one is an easy decision.

Secondly, due to the manufacturing process used in creating customized mats, your logo will probably be compromised in some way.  Either the colors will not be exactly the same or graphic elements  (such as very skinny lines) may need to be changed. Gradient backgrounds are virtually impossible to re-create.

Finally, consider the aesthetic compromise to your logo as dirt, slush, and mud is tracked over it (and ground into it) as people walk in and out of your facility.

For these reasons, we encourage the purchase of standard “off the rack” mats.

As for your logo identification, place it where people will see it and it stays clean and pristine … on wall signage that reproduces your visual branding exactly how it should look.
