June 1: Goodbye MSDS, Hello SDS

MSDS is now replaced by SDS.
MSDS is now replaced by SDS.

The next phase in GHS implementation is upon us as we see an end to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as they are replaced by Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

June 1, 2015 was the deadline for manufacturers to change their MSDS to the new formatted SDS and update all their product labels according to GHS standards.

However, you won’t necessarily see all new labels this month, or even next month.  As a distributor we are allowed to deplete our inventory displaying old labels until December 1, 2015.

This is a good time to remind everyone that end-users must continue to be trained on the new GHS label elements and SDS format.  Cavalier provides an online GHS resource site where you can access GHS training materials.

Additionally, Cavalier provides free GHS closet cards that are a quick reference sheet of the new GHS label pictographs with an area you can specify where the SDSs are located in your facility.
